Two men charged over farm break-in
A married couple who were arrested after shooting two suspected burglars during a break-in have been released on bail, police said.
Andy Ferrie, 35, and his wife Tracey, 43, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after Mr Ferrie called police early on Sunday morning to tell them he had picked up a shotgun and fired at two of four intruders at his home.
Mr Ferrie used the shotgun, which was legally owned, when he and his wife were disturbed by raiders at their isolated farm in the Welby area of Leicestershire, near Melton Mowbray.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said two men have been charged with burglary and added: "A 35-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of GBH, have also been bailed pending further inquiries."
The two Leicester men, aged 27 and 33, have been remanded in custody to appear at Loughborough Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
Two other men, who were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, have been bailed pending further inquiries.
