A rail commuter has come up with some tracks of his own by leading fellow travellers in an in-carriage impromptu singsong.

The singalong, captured on film by a passenger and accompanied by enthusiastic handclapping, was the work of a white-haired, suit-wearing traveller on a Southeastern train going from Victoria station in London to Ashford International in Kent.

Passengers had been sitting in silence when the man leapt up to add a little gaiety to the journey of last Friday's last service of the day.

In the film, the man can be seen singing with gusto, with other passengers joining in the singing and the clapping and others looking on in amusement and applauding at the end.

Passenger George Haswell, from Maidstone in Kent, filmed the singsong and posted it on YouTube.

Mr Haswell, a surveyor who works in London, told Kent Online: "This man needs to go viral. It was so funny and entertaining. He was so amazing."

Mr Haswell told the Mail Online: "He was loving it. He put the whole carriage in such a good mood. After he got off there were still around 50 people in great spirits.

"One person started singing (Oasis's) Wonderwall and everyone joined in. We were singing along for the rest of the journey."

One of the songs attempted was the 1927 standard Side By Side.

A Southeastern spokeswoman said: "What a fantastic video. It's great to see our passengers having so much fun during their late-night journey and really getting into the spirit of the sing-a-long led by their fellow passenger.

"We applaud him for his enthusiasm and think he deserves a big pat on the back for his efforts. Clearly there's some top singing talent among our customers."
