Ian Bell has suffered a "small fracture" in his left big toe, the England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed.

Bell was hit on his toe batting against throw-downs before the fourth Royal London Series match against India at Edgbaston on Tuesday.

He was replaced at number three by Gary Ballance, and subsequent x-rays showed the break.

Bell's injury will be assessed before the fifth and final match of the series at Headingley on Friday.
