A FRIENDLY rugby match between local and invited players was held in Crediton on Sunday to give troops in Iraq and Afghanistan a brighter Christmas.
A total of £325 was raised from the game and was presented to the Crediton Branch of the Royal British Legion, which will spend the donations on special gifts for local men and women serving in the Middle East.
Derek Rowe, the secretary of Crediton Royal British Legion, said: "We are very grateful to Crediton Rugby Club for presenting us with this sum.
"It is really good of them to think of our servicemen and women who are serving their country under difficult circumstances."
The RBL would like to hear of any person from the Crediton area to whom them can send a parcel.
Mr Rowe can be contacted on 01363-774329.
