THE reigning summer and winter champions were both beaten in the quarter finals of the Winter Foursomes at Padbrook Park.

Gary Lewis and Dave Wood reached the semi-finals with an excellent victory over summer champions Dean Silversides and Rod Hutchings.

They will now face Dave Payne who saw off defending winter champions John Palmer and Mark Perrott. The other semi sees Neil Woodman and Ian White face Gary Stevenson and Richard Asson.

Allan Gills’ excellent run in the Winter Singles continued with victory over Order of Merit champion Gary Stevenson. He now plays Richard Price in the semis.

Hong Chau, the lowest handicapper left in the event, was beaten by Gary Purcigo.

Semi Final draw: K Radbourne v G Purcigo, K Curtis v A Gill.

Padbrook Park have been drawn against Tiverton in the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes.

Padbrook’s pairing of Hong Chau and Tom Evans will have to travel to their near neighbours for the match in the national event.
