ALL Blacks overwhelmed The Beare by 101 pins in Division B of the Sampford Peverell and district league.

Their score included a 26 spare for captain Dave Greening in his three spare 85.

Lion Cubs return to the top of Division C, though Halfway House have a game in hand.

Reports: Globe Appley were behind Elmore Club after the first two legs. But after drawing the third they then caught and overtook their opponents to take the two points which leaves the two teams in joint second place.

Calverleigh were ahead of Bradninch C Club after three legs, but when the Cricketers pulled 23 pins on the fourth leg, it was a telling advantage. The home team were unable to respond as they lost the last two legs and the game.

Following their impressive win the previous week, Bellies followed it up by convincingly beating Globe Appley B. Bellies lost the first leg, shared the second, and the won the rest, taking a good two points, and move up the league again.

Lumberjacks passed The Hounds after the first two legs, taking a 48 pin lead. The next leg was shared, but the game was already over.

A good home win for Redwoods over Castaways means they move up the table to join their opponents on points. After five legs the teams were level, but the away team were overtaken on the last leg.

Following their heavy defeat the previous week, Queens Head got back to winning ways against Brass Monkeys. After QH set the standard over the first two legs, BMs made a real effort in the next three legs to get within one pin, but could do no more.

Globetrotters were unable to catch Barmy Army after the latter took a nine pin lead after two legs. The teams shared the legs, but the Army had put enough daylight between themselves and the home team by the last two legs and go into joint second place.

Reports: Bradninch RBL played fairly consistently against Barley Mow but the away side played that bit better, taking a 13 pin win after anchor men M Billing and J Lee posted the highest scores of the night.

Oggies and Crossways had a right tennis match, swapping the lead throughout, sharing the rubs and deservedly the points.

Bickleigh took an easy two points off struggling The Merriemeade, holding the lead each time they left the alley.

All Blacks are in awesome form, winning eight from the last nine, this time absolutely thrashing The Beare by 101 pins.

The Agri-Nuts and Bullocks had a close match, snapping at each other’s heels from the off with the home side taking a slender lead. By half way the away side got within one but tapered off again dropping a further five pins.

Roy’s Rebels ended their losing run, beating second placed Ayshford Arms by 29 pins, with most damage done by the away side posting poor first and last rubs.

The Ponies kicked right into high gear, going 21 pins up against Uplowman. Although the last four rubs were shared the home side pulled a further six pins for the points.

High Scores: 77 – P Fyles (Lion Cubs, four spares); 76 – J Reed (Lion Cubs, four spares); 67 – Martin Cosh (Knock Em Down, three spares); 66 – W Ayres (Lion Cubs, two spares).

Reports: Lion Cubs were back to winning ways after two defeats with a 71 pin home hammering of Tiverton Chiefs. Cubs were 21 up after two legs and took the remaining four legs for a comfortable win.

HCC2 managed to hold on for a six pin home win against Ashill Inn. The home team were on first and scored consistently throughout the evening. Ashill were set 129 from the last two legs and hit the target in the fifth with a 66. That left 63 to win, but they missed out by six.

The Travellers were moving along nicely at home to Huntsham A and were 37 up after four legs. Huntsham staged a late comeback but were still ten behind at the end.

Heathcoat Hulas maintain their mid-table place with a 14 pin home win against Rose and Crown. Hulas started well and were 16 up after two legs, then 29 up after four. R&C pulled 14 on the penultimate leg but couldn’t manage the same again in the last.

The Farmers couldn’t replicate their excellent performance the previous week and remain winless at home following a defeat by Knock Em Down. Farmers were on first and scored consistently throughout the evening but KED won the game in the second and fifth legs and finished 27 pins ahead.

Catherine Wheel had a seven pin away win at Tiverton RBL to put them up with the table leaders. RBL, on first, took an 11 pin advantage after two legs. Catherine Wheel then took three of the last four legs to finish on top.
