TIVERTON Town drew 1-1 at home to Didcot Town yesterday in a Southern league match that could have gone either way.

Tivvy’s Jimmy Hinds saw his shot cleared off the line in the second minute, but Didcot then twice went close.

First Ben Whitehead’s fired a fearsome 30 yard shot before Pablo Haysham forced Chris Wright into an excellent save.

Tivvy took the lead on after 31 minutes when Dan Western’s corner was met by the head of Ed Weeks for his first Tivvy goal. Then as the home side applied some pressure, Western twice went close himself.

Didcot hit back and the league’s tops scorer, John Mills, was close to equalising with a shot which was deflected over.

Hinds then went close to increasing the lead but his shot was saved by James Foster.

Didcot’s equaliser came in the 63rd minute after a slip by Tom Garner allowed Whitehead through on goal. Whitehead’s shot was almost saved by Wright but crept across the line.

Before the final whistle James Organ shot just wide for Didcot while Ethan Phillips shot straight at Foster.

Man of the Match: Ed Weeks (Tiverton).
