SAM Palmer won the Autumn Meeting at Padbrook Park with an excellent score of 41 Stableford points.

Palmer finished level on points with Richard Hughes but won on countback.

Hughes, who posted a birdie on the 13th hole was left to regret the final hole where he failed to score. Autumn Meeting: 1 S Palmer 41pts, 2 R Hughes 41, 3 H Evans 36, 4 S Heath 35, 5 A Held 34, 6 C Manley 34, 7 J Locke 33, 8 K Holway 33.

Padbrook Captain Rod Hutchings teamed up with Dean Silversides to win the Summer Foursomes with a 4&3 victory over Chris Senik and Phil Strawford.

They were giving away six shots, but took an early advantage when Silversides hit his second shot to within eight feet on the second hole. The lead was extended thanks to a win on the par five 6th.

An excellent second shot to the 7th by Senik reduced the deficit. The margin was extended to two at the turn and an excellent tee shot to six feet on the 12th from Hutchings brought victory closer.

It was confirmed, in a match which was closer than the scoreline suggests on the 15hth green.

Sam Palmer stormed into the final of the Consolation Shield with a 9&7 win over Gary Stevenson. Palmer will now meet Hamish Marshall, who recovered from being two down after six to beat Steve Held 3&2 in his semi final.
