GOLF: Moyes claims her third Tiverton title
ABBIE Moyes became ladies’ club champion for the third time after a ten shot victory in the 36-hole event at Tiverton.
The 20-year-old did the double by also winning the nett prize for the Rose Bowl.
Moyes, a five-handicapper, posted gross scores of 80 and 79 for a total of 159 in the club championship.
Fellow youngster Stacey Ford was her nearest challenger as rounds of 87 and 82 gave her an aggregate of 169.
Nett scores of 75 and 74 helped Moyes finish two ahead of Ford in the Rose Bowl.
The first round doubled up as the August Medal, which was won by Sheila Ball with a nett 70.

Tiverton retained the team trophy in the Western Morning News foursomes event at Exeter.
Jess Bradley and ladies’ captain Charlotte Snow carded 37 Stableford points to finish the top pair overall, aided by a crucial birdie on the 17th. Sue Persey and Alison Hilton scored 33 to come sixth while Stacey Ford and Carolyn Maynard posted 31.
Tiverton’s team score of 70 left them six clear of Portmore.
The ladies have reached the quarter-finals of the Sheelah Creasy Bowl as one of the two best runners-up, having won four of the six matches in their division.
Tiverton won 4-3 in their last match at Torquay, where Anto Hajduk, Ivy Radford, Kay Leach and Ros Williams were victorious.
Harry Konig fired a one-under gross 70 to win the scratch prize in the Junior Open at a rain-soaked Tiverton on Sunday.
Tiverton’s junior captain finished one ahead of club-mates Ben Hearn and Daniel Perry, who won the nett prize with his 64.

Jim Pryce shot 40 Stableford points to lift the Venerable Veterans Cup on Tuesday.

Saunton, the eventual champions, took an early lead before Tiverton rallied to take them to the 18th.
Ollie Main won the Junior Open at Torquay with a seven-under nett 62, with Jay Buckingham second on 65.
