PADBROOK Park halved their latest East Devon League match with reigning champions Sidmouth.

Hong Chau and Mike Thomas got the Cullompton club off to a flying start with a 6&4 win in the top match while Hamish Marshall and Gary Stevenson posted an even more impressive 7&6 victory.

With two pairs losing, the match, played at Woodbury Park, came down to the last game on the course.

Pete Jones and Mark Perrott turned things around to lead by one hole with four to play.

But they lost the 17th and Jones’s putt for the match on the last slipped agonisingly past to leave the honours even.
