Wellington Reserves bounced back from Saturday's defeat with an excellent 2-1 win over Exmouth Amateurs at the Playing Field tonight.

Kevin Hazeldine's side took the lead in the opening minutes when skipper Matthew Tooze's corner sailed directly into the net.

And they doubled their advantage after 32 minutes as Luke Perry ran on to a long ball out of defence by James Garrad to produce a clinical finish.

Exmouth, relegated with Wellington last season, took the game to the home side after the break and created a succession of openings.

They pulled a goal back with ten minutes left to set up a tense finish but the Wellington defence, with Nigel Letten outstanding, held firm.

This Saturday, Wellington Reserves have another home game against Bow ACC, kick-off 3pm.
