Exeter and District Basketball League Divsion 1: Taunton Revolution 73, Torbay Tigers 67.

TAUNTON Revolution maintained their unbeaten home record with a superb victory over a talented Torbay Tigers side.

Torbay were undefeated this season and are always formidable opponents but Taunton knew with teamwork and effort they could come away with the win.

The hosts held a 21-17 lead after the first quarter with Ben Thompson providing three early assists, and Gabriel Carrillo coming off the bench to chip in with four points early.

Revolution were then plagued by turnovers and allowed Torbay to put together a 19-2 scoring run, giving them a 36-23 advantage.

The Revolution answered with a 14-0 run of their own in the last five minutes of the quarter to lead by one point at halftime.

The third period was low scoring but Torbay shaded it to take a three-point advantage into the final period.

However, in the fourth it was all Revolution. Their twin towers attack of Rich Nelsey and John Grounds, who had fantastic games, dominated the boards and helped Taunton to secure a lead of four points by the last few minutes of play.

Spurred on by some fantastic support, Brett Cooper put the nail in the coffin with a deep three-pointer late in the game.

Torbay began to extend their defence but Revolution stayed strong to secure a crucial win.

Revolution scores: Grounds 19pts, Rich Nelsey 15pts, Matt Acott 13pts, Marc Eggleton 8pts, Brett Cooper 9pts, Gabriel Carrillo 6pts, Ben Thompson 3pts.

TAUNTON Revolution will be training at their home court, the Blackbrook Pavillion, on December 3 at 8.30pm. Anyone interested in playing is welcome to attend.
