STAPEGROVE Sports reached the third round of the Taunton and District Saturday League's Gardner Cup after a thrilling 6-5 victory away to lower division Watchet Town Blue Waves.

Watchet led 4-0 at one stage and missed a penalty, before Staplegrove mounted an amazing comeback and equalised at the death to force extra-time.

The sides then traded goals before Staplegrove finally hit the winners with the final kick of the game.

Chris Hadley (2), Alex Pounde (2), George Pope and Nick Glover netted for Staplegrove with Jamie Munroe (2), Jamie Milton, Royston Green and Chris Sully on target for Watchet.

Perfecto and Bishops Lydeard booked their places in the last four of the Carling Cup after winning their quarter-finals at the weekend.

Last season's runners-up Perfecto defeated fellow Division One side Tone Youth 3-1 with goals from Matt Francis (2) and Jamie Price. Matt Hassell netted for Tone.

Lydeard a first defeat of the season on Division Two side KC Dragons with Andy Clark (2), Graham Mercieca and James Welch getting the goals in a 4-2 victory. Matt Brereton and Ian Jackson were on target for Dragons.

In the quarter finals of the Mike Whitehead Cup, Old Inn defeated Holway United 4-3 on penalties after a 5-5 draw. Dave Rossillo, Matt Blee, James Conway and Shaun Gough among the scorers for Holway, with David Sweet, Dan Jackson, Steven Reed, Anthony Reed and Craig Dobson scoring for Old Inn.

Celtic Allstars went down 2-1 to Royal Crown with Josh Leebody and Nick Whiting getting the goals, while Rail Madrid went down 3-0 against Cotford Saints Reserves.

Westford Rangers defeated Ruishton Inn 6-3 with Lee Hellier (3), Scott Chidgey (2) and Craig Plumridge getting their goals.

Mark Kmita (2) and Ryan Oaten were on target for Ruishton who lost James Kierle with a broken ankle.

Chard Town Alexis Piper striker was in amazing scoring form for Spartans in their 11-0 win over Legends in Division One. He netted an incredible eight goals with Kirk Reece (2) and Nick Grimshaw scoring the others.

Bathpool won 5-1 to Gardeners Galacticos thanks to goals from Steve Burley (3) and Andrew Wood (2). Mark Wooliscroft netted for Gardeners.

In Division Two, Ash Rangers cand Bagborough shared the points in a 3-3 draw.

Two Dean Yarde goals put Bagborough 2-0 up but Matt Buswell (2) and Aaron Sellick pulled Ash level. Craig Burnett then equalised for Bagborough.

LA Guns and North Curry fought out a 1-1 draw with Adam Brown netting for Guns and Omar Furana for Curry.

Spaxton Rangers won 2-1 at home to Westgate Wanderers with Jamie Sellick and Jamie Carter scoring the goals for Spaxton.

In Division Four, Somerset Inn and Phoenix Rangers drew 1-1. Jack Rendall put Rangers in front but Marvin Nicholls levelled.

In Group A of the Mike Stewart Cup, Dunster lost 5-4 to Staplegrove Sports Reserves. Daniel James and Ryan Cody-Boucher hit two each for Dunster, with Jack Addicott (2), Ash White, Jack Porter and Eubio do Rosario netted for Staplegrove.

Sportsman Rovers won 4-1 at Eagle with Luke Hinton scoring the only goal for Eagle.
