British Gas Business League Division 1 (S&W): Marlow 2, Taunton Town 0.

TAUNTON Town manager Gary Domone refused to be downbeat following his side's defeat at Marlow last Saturday.

Taunton lost out to a goal midway through the second half and a second two minutes from time, but Domone felt his side were far from outplayed and created enough to claim a share of the spoils.

He said: "I felt we matched them.

"We made as many chances as them and I thought we did enough to get something from the game.

"Defensively we looked quite solid, which was also pleasing. It wasn't a particularly good game and the first goal was always going to be crucial.

"Unfortunately, it fell to them, although our lads were convinced it should've been off-side.

"The second goal came late on when we were chasing the game.

"It's obviously disappointing to lose but we were never outplayed and were in the game until the second goal.

"Marlow seems to be a bogey ground for us - we never seem to do well there."

Taunton's top scorer Tom Collett had his side's best chance of an even first half, having a good shot saved by Marlow keeper Ian Mactaggart.

But it was the hosts who got the all-important breakthrough on 66 minutes when striker Aaron Couch scored from close range despite appeals from Taunton that he was off-side.

Taunton had opportunities to hit back with Alex Faux and substitute Danny Copeland firing shots over the crossbar.

And Collett should have netted a leveller with less than ten minutes remaining, but his near post shot was saved.

The home side then made sure of the points in the 88th minute when Colin Simpson lobbed Taunton goalkeeper Liam Bull.
