TIVERTON Town won 3-1 at home to Evesham United in the Southern league yesterday.
Tivvy took the lead inside two minutes when a Jake Wannell free kick was headed down by Tom Gardner for Owen Howe to smash his tenth of the season from close range.
Howe was in the thick of the action again two minutes later. He appeared to be bought down in the box by keeper Kevin Sawyer but after awarding a penalty the referee changed his mind and booked Howe for diving.
Howe left the pitch a little later with a back injury.
Tivvy increased the lead on 28 minutes, Wannell's corner headed home by Gardner.
Matt Sysum then missed a glorious chance for the visitors, heading over from a corner.
Then three minutes before the break Tivvy skipper James Richards bought down Harry Williams in the box and Sysum slammed home the resultant penalty.
After the interval Tivvy squandered chance after chance as Jimmy Hinds, Ethan Phillips and Josh Searle all tested Sawyer.
But in the 55th minute Sawyer could do nothing about Phillips' 25 yard shot which flew past him.
The keeper then saw red on the hour as he raced out of goal and used his hands.
Chances came and went for both sides, the best falling to Tivvy sub Luke Mortimore who shot tamely when through on goal.
