STEVE Held won the Padbrook Masters on countback after a two-way tie.

Heath shot a level par nett 72 as did Richard Hughes.

But he had a better score on the back nine which saw him win the event.

Hughes, who had birdied the 13th, was left to reflect on two double bogeys in the last three holes which cost him victory.

It was also a tale of what might have been for third placed Dean Silversides.

He was a shot behind after a triple bogey on the 17th and a bogey on the final hole.

Padbrook Masters: 1 S Heath 82 (10) 72, 2 R Hughes 87 (15) 72, 3 D Silversides 87 (14) 73, 4 H Evans 91 (17) 74, 5 C Edwards 75 (0) 75, 6 R Hutchings 81 (5) 76, 7 I White 100 (24) 76, 8 A Held 91 (15) 76. Gary Stevenson won the season-long Order of Merit despite failing to score in the final counting event, the Padbrook Masters.

Stevenson was safe once John Locke, the only players who could catch him, also failed to add merit points. Stevenson has enjoyed a consistent season including four top ten finishes in the last six events.

He has seen his handicap come down from 12 to 10. Locke’s impressive season has seen three victories.
