NEIL Forward and Kelvin Woodgate fired an excellent score of nine to win the men’s medalford competition at Tiverton on Saturday.

Their 20 stableford points on the back nine were deducted from the nett 29 they scored on the front, producing their nine-under total.

Dean Farmer and Steve Hayes scored 11 to come second ahead of Neal Gibson and Steve Carey (12), Simon Young and Nick Lear (12) and Roger Fetherston and Steve Buchanan (13).

Sarah Lockwood had her handicap cut from 35 to 33 after winning the ladies’ October Stableford on Wednesday.

Lockwood scored 38 points to top the Bronze Division in front of Pauline Hussey (26).

Alison Hilton claimed the Silver Division prize with 32, four ahead of Oki Northwood.

Jan Carroll claimed the Hamilton Cup, for ladies who have won medal competitions this year, after shooting a nett 73 in the final on Sunday.

The 18-handicapper was followed by Liz Hall (77) and Alison Hilton (78).

Tom Hanson won the East Devon Junior League Individual Finals Day, sponsored by Porsche, on Sunday.

The two-handicapper fired a nett 75 at East Devon to ensure Tiverton kept the trophy, following in the footsteps of Jay Buckingham in 2012 and Jay Scott last year.

Charlie Sampson finished third in the stableford with 35 points while his father Lloyd claimed the nearest the pin prize in the junior organiser/adult event.

At the presentation, vouchers were also handed out for the 2014 league season.

Tiverton enjoyed a clean sweep in Group B of the matchplay order of merit, with Charlie Sampson first, Buckingham second and Leon Hogan third.

All three had 100% records, with Sampson playing in five of the six matches.

Scott came second in the open order of merit.
