GARY Stevenson had double joy as he won the Barry Colbourne Cup and moved into pole position to win the season long Order of Merit at Padbrook Park.
Stevenson survived a double bogey on the last hole to score 40 stableford points to edge out Sam Palmer and Gary Purcigo by a point. Birdies on the 8th and 14th holes helped set up his score.
Palmer had fired two birdies on the front nine as he edged out Purcigo on countback.
The win sees Gary Stevenson moved eight points clear of John Locke ahead of the final counting event.
That means a top eight finish in the Padbrook Masters would be enough to secure the title.
Locke is the only player who can catch him but he needs a top three finish to have any chance.
Sam Palmer won the Order of Merit Consolation Shield as he came back from one down with five to play to beat Hamish Marshall 2&1.
The youngster had won the first three holes but found himself one down at the turn.
However an excellent back nine of two over gross saw him use the six shots he was getting to his advantage and secure the win.
