BRETT James plundered 44 Stableford points to win the men's Martell Bowl at Tiverton GC.

James had his handicap cut from 26 to 23 after finishing three clear of Steve Hayes, Bradley Westlake and Lawrence Blake in Division Two.

Shaun Vickery topped Division One with 42, beating Shaun White and Tom Hanson by two.

On a day of good scoring, 17 players bettered their handicaps in each division.

Dominic Bristow fired 41 points to win the July Weekday Stableford on Monday.

Bristow, who birdied the 1st, 14th and 17th, finished one ahead of Alan Cooper and Stephen Bazley in Division One and had his handicap cut from eight to seven.

Kenneth Rixon carded 38 to secure the Division Two prize on a countback from Keith Tadman.

In the progressive stableford team event, Margot Seamer, Jane Gould and Oki Northwood scored 77 stableford points to secure victory.

Charlotte Snow, Tracy Banbury and Jane Moulding (75) finished second ahead of Sue Norris, Judy Phripp and Bridget Holland (73), Liz Marriott, Jean Granger and Maureen Postles (72) and Ros Williams, Pauline Pym and Kay Leach (71).

A total of 70 ladies played and raised £200 for FORCE Cancer Charity.

A two on the 4th helped T Summerville to 43 stableford points and victory in the Veterans Cup.

Club vice-captain David Jack posted a two-under nett 69 to claim the veterans' Ambrose Congdon Cup.

Jack, who had a two on the 14th, saw his handicap cut from 19 to 18 after a one-shot triumph over Eric Osborne.
