TIVERTON Town footballer Max Bristow will be heading to the USA this summer to take up a prestigious football scholarship through the PASS4Soccer Network programme.

Bristow will be joining St Catharine’s College in St Catharine, Kentucky.

He will arrive in August 2014 to study and play for the ‘Patriots’ soccer team.

Bristow will have the opportunity to combine his University studies alongside playing high level football for the next four years.

Bristow and his family are delighted to have secured a soccer scholarship through the PASS4Soccer Scholarship Network.

The Exeter College student’s achievement in winning such a high value scholarship and placement is in recognition of both his academic achievements to date and his athletic ability.

Bristow said: “I chose to study in the USA because I’m able to carry on playing football at a good standard while getting a university degree at the same time and getting the experience of living in a different country.

“I’m most looking forward to living in America and being able to play and train nearly every day and also meeting loads of new people.

“I chose St. Catharine’s because I felt the coach there wanted me more than the other coaches I spoke to and when I spoke to players from England already part of the team they had nothing but good words about the university and the coach.”

During this summer’s FIFA World Cup, 11 of the 23 US Men’s National Team players have taken up similar scholarships in the USA university system.
