GOLF: Harry Konig is king of the juniors at Tiverton

HARRY Konig clinched the Junior Club Championship scratch trophy at Tiverton with a level-par aggregate of 213.
The prize, presented after the Texaco Salver, is given to the player with the best three scratch scores in junior events over the year.
Konig, a two-handicapper, posted rounds of 70, 70 and 73 to fend off competition from captain Nixie Acfield (215) and Tom Trowbridge (219).
Mollie Pilling picked up the nett trophy with a 20-under aggregate of 128 points.
She registered scores of 45, 44 and 39 to beat Jimmy Heard (125) and Bradley Scott (124) to top spot.
The two trophies were donated by club member Ron Stonebridge last year.
Teresa Birchmore and Julie Hasell posted a bogey score of level to top the leaderboard in the ladies' October Par on Wednesday.
Birchmore, a 12-handicapper, parred six of the first seven holes on her way to pipping Rosemary Perry (-1) to the Silver Division prize.
Hasell was followed by Hannah Carthew (-2) in Bronze Division One while Ann Fielding (-4) headed Bronze Division Two in front of Maddie Esau (-7).
