9:28am Friday 18th October 2013 in Sport
RHYS Cruse lifted the Tommy Tucker Scratch Cup for the second time in three years after a 4&3 victory over Simon Waddington in the final at Tiverton.
Scratch-handicapper Cruse won the first two holes with pars, before birdies on the 4th and 8th helped him go 5 up.
Waddington won the 10th and 14th but Cruse, 4 up with four to play, sealed victory with a birdie on the 15th which left him one under par.
The title sealed an excellent year for Cruse, who also won the Club Championship and Blundell's Trophy.
Rounds of 69, 69 and 72 secured the Blundell's Trophy, for the best three scores in medals throughout the season.
Two other knock-out competitions came to a conclusion on Saturday.
Simon Budden produced a stunning fightback from 6 down after 15 to beat Tony Lavery in the 36-hole final of the Captain's Prize.
Budden reduced the deficit to four after 18 and made it all-square on the 10th in the second round, before pressing on to win 2 and 1.
In the final of the mixed Coronation Cup, James Lambden and Jane Walton defeated captains Martin Selby and Anto Hajduk on the 20th.
Rosemary Perry had an eagle two on the 12th on her way to winning the ladies' Hamilton Cup on Sunday.
Perry came in with a nett 77 to beat Xanda Vass by two in the event, for qualifiers from medals throughout the year.
The club is holding Christmas party nights for local businesses and groups for the first time this year.
