GOLF: Mo's a handicap snip at Tiverton

MAUREEN Postles posted 40 points to win the ladies’ September Stableford at Tiverton.
Postles had her handicap cut from 18 to 16 after topping the Silver Division on a countback from Rosemary Perry.
Sally Fetherston claimed the Bronze Division One prize with 38 while Christine Coombes led the way in Bronze Division Two with 33.
Results: Silver Division – 1 Maureen Postles (40); 2 Rosemary Perry (40); 3 Jane Gould (39). Bronze Division One – 1 Sally Fetherston (38); 2 Marjorie Hallam (35); 3 Julia Cole (35). Bronze Division Two – 1 Christine Coombes (33); 2 Xanda Vass (32); 3 Jean Granger (29).
Tony Wood-Wright carded an eight-under nett 63 to secure the veterans’ Challenge Trophy on Tuesday.
Wood-Wright, who capped his round with a birdie on the 18th, finished four ahead of Terry Barwell and had his handicap cut from 18 to 16.

Noel Gallagher carded 43 points to win the veterans’ September Stableford.
Gallagher had a two on the 4th and four straight pars to close as he finished two ahead of David Grieve, Graham Dyson and Trevor Milner.

Mollie Pilling lifted the juniors’ Heathcoat Trophy on Sunday after shooting an excellent nett 65.
Pilling’s score was reduced to 62 due to the difference in standard scratch score between the girls and boys.
Sam Heard finished second with 66, with Joe Heard third on 67.
The Holland Trophy, played on the same day, went to Sarah Sweetland with 46 stableford points.
Jay Scott scored 40 to come second on a countback from Emily Vickery.
In the 11-hole non-CONGU competition off the blue tees, Callum Barnes (32) came first ahead of Anthony Waterman (21).
Off the red and yellow tees, Sam Pryce (32) eased to victory in front of Dave Baldwin (21) and Ben Thomas (21).
Harry Konig finished nearest the pin on the 9th while Baldwin claimed the non-CONGU prize on the 4th.
Sam Heard scored 36 stableford points in heavy rain to clinch the juniors’ Green Headland Trophy.
Heard topped Division One on a countback from Alex Gibson, while Jimmy Heard was third on 34.
Sarah Sweetland claimed the Division Two prize with 35, ahead of Hannah Carthew (34) and Emily Vickery (33).
Aaron Lazarus won the nine-hole non-CONGU competition with 19, in front of Dan Brooks (17) and Sam Pryce (14).
Jimmy Heard was nearest the pin on the 18th while Lazarus took the non-CONGU prize on the 4th.
Tiverton’s youngsters brought back a number of prizes from the Junior Open at Honiton on Saturday.
Sam Heard won Division One with a nett 69 and Jay Buckingham was the runner-up on 70.
Leon Hogan fired a 64 to win Division Two on a countback from Ryan Kemp.
Harry Konig finished second in the boys’ scratch event, Sarah Sweetland came third in the girls’ nett competition and Jay Scott was nearest the pin on the 12th.
Dan Brooks won the non-CONGU competition ahead of Sam Pryce.
