EXETER Chiefs were hammered 46-3 at Clermont Auvergne in the Heineken Cup yesterday.
Their only points came from a Gareth Steenson penalty and the result ended Exeter's mathematical hopes of qualification in Europe.
They face defending champions Leinster next in the competition.
