PADBROOK Park’s advanced professional Stuart Disney is leading the Devon PGA Order of Merit after two recent wins.

He won a Devon Winter Series event at Torquay before taking eighth spot in the next event at East Devon.

And Disney then romped to a three shot victory after firing a four under par 67 on Saunton’s West course.

He started slowly, with a dropped shot on the second, but a run of five successive 3s, including three birdies, set him on course.

Three more birdies followed on the back nine as Disney left Kevin Harper trailing in second.

He said: “I’ve been practicing hard on my game lately and it’s started to pay dividends in my results. My score at Saunton would have been even better but for a dropped shot on the last.”

THE Devon County Golf Union held its annual dinner and presentation at Padbrook Park.

The Chanel League Trophy was presented to Captain Adam Bridgewater who named Royal North Devon’s Jimmy Mullen as his player of the year.

PADBROOK Park has been chosen as the host club for the South-West regional final of the Hall of Fame Golf Championship in 2013.

The event is open to all golf clubs and raises thousands of pounds for Cancer Research. Clubs host a qualifier and the winner is invited to play in the regional final.
