JAMES Lambden celebrated a victory double after winning the Flowers Cup and the Old Tiverton Cup at Tiverton.

The five-handicapper fired an excellent one-under gross 70 for a nett 65. Lambden birdied the 2nd, 5th, 6th and 9th in a front nine of 33, before coming back in 37.

Lloyd Sampson (68) and Lee Davey (69) were the only other players to break 70 in the Flowers Cup.

Martin Selby (72) was Lambden’s nearest challenger in the Old Tiverton Cup, for players who had picked up trophies during the season.

Lambden qualified by winning the Kennard Cup two weeks earlier.

Carolyn Maynard carded 34 points to win the ladies’ October Stableford.

The 16-handicapper finished two ahead of Maureen Postles in the Silver Division.

Alison Hilton posted 29 points to claim the Goodwin Trophy, for winners of ladies’ Stablefords this season. The 16-handicapper finished two ahead of Jan Carroll on Sunday.

Mike Eastmond came in with 41 Stableford points to win the veterans’ Stan Sage Trophy on Tuesday and cut his handicap from ten to nine.
