A MAN has died following a serious road collision in the Moorhayes area of Tiverton.
The man, who is in his late 60s but has not yet been formally identified, died following the collision in Lea Road yesterday morning, police have confirmed.
It is believed that the man was outside his lorry, which was parked nearby, when he was involved in a collision with a van.
A police spokesman said: "At this stage it is thought the deceased, whose lorry was parked nearby, was a pedestrian at the time of the incident and was in collision with a van."
The van driver, a man in his fifties from Tiverton, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
The vehicles were a red DAF lorry and a silver coloured Renault Traffic van.
Police closed Lea Road between the college end roundabout and McDonalds but this has now re-opened.
