MASKED thieves ram-raided a store in Tiverton, stealing a large amount of perfume.

Police say the burglary took place at the Banburys Store in Gold Street in the early hours of this morning.

They were called following reports of alarms going off at the store at around 4.15am.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "It appears that a saloon-type car was used to force the doors to gain access to the store.

"People wearing balaclavas managed to steal vast quantities of perfumes, before fleeing the area in the same vehicle up Bampton Street."

Police are appealing for witnesses and would also like to hear from anyone who has come across any discarded items in the area including perfumes and balaclavas, or who have been offered any perfume for sale.
