AN ELDERLY man has been rescued by fire crews from his home in Tiverton.
Two fire engines were sent to Spurway Road at 8.34pm last night to reports of smoke in a property.
Whiel crews were on their way, the control operator stayed on the phone to the man and gave him advice.
Crews gained entry via the first floor window and found the elderly gent inside.
Crews led him to safety and carried out investigations to where the smoke was coming from.
The cause of the smoke within the property came from the kitchen area where food had been left unattended on the cooker.
The food was removed to the open air and crews ventilated the property.
Ambulance and Police attended the incident and duty of care was left with them.
