A GOOD Samaritan from Wellington is being sought following an assault on two vulnerable men from Tiverton.

It is alleged that a group of teenagers made a number of offensive comments to two men with learning difficulties in People's Park.

This then escalated, and one of the vulnerable men and his 37-year-old carer were assaulted.

The 51-year-old was left with a cut to his cheek and lip and the carer sustained bruising to his ribs and swelling to his face and head.

The assault happened on Wednesday, August 3 between 2.30pm and 3pm and it is believed it was witnessed by several members of the public.

Devon and Cornwall Police are now trying to find a woman from Wellington, who stepped in to check the welfare of the victims straight after the assault.  PC Zane McCormick said: “We believe there were a number of witnesses to the assault who we would like to speak to as part of our investigations.

“We would especially like to track down a woman who checked on the welfare of the victims immediately after the incident; she told the victims that she was visiting from Wellington but left before we had the chance to speak to her and she didn’t leave any contact details.

“We are desperate to track down this Good Samaritan as we believe she holds information vital to our investigation.

"We would also like to hear from any other member of the public who was in People’s Park around the time of the assault or who may have witnessed the incident itself.”
