STAR Wars, Doctor Who and other sci-fi fandoms are set to collide in Tiverton this weekend as the town plays host to a special Christmas science fiction fair.

The event, which has been organised by Geek Central and Mid Devon District Council, will see imperial troops, rebel forces and Stormtroopers combine with Whovians and fans of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Geek Central Tiverton, which is all for charity, will feature cosplay, exhibits and traders throughout the town centre and the old Covered Pannier Market.

The fair, which will take place on December 19, will also feature stars from science fiction in the signing area.

These include Dorchester actor Matthew Dale, who has featured as the Big John in Doctor Who.

He will be joined by Chris Bunn, who was a Stormtrooper in the original 1977 Star Wars film, as well The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Chris also worked on three James Bond films (The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker and The Living Daylights), and appeared in Superman I and II.

UK Garrison Stormtroopers group will be parading the market, which will include a number of stalls including One Dotty Duck steampunk jewellery and Futures Market.

The third star is Julian Seager, whose roles include parts in Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Who, Thor: The Dark World, Being Human and Skyfall.

Finally, Clem So, who has also featured in Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Who and Being Human, as well as Skyfall and this year's big Bond film, Spectre.

The event is scheduled to start at 10am, with a sci-fi and comic book cosplay competition taking place at 2pm, before being due to finish at 4pm.

Prizes will be handed out for best adult and best children’s costumes.

In addition, there will be a carousel ride, steampunk stalls and features, gaming activities, streetfood and Santa will make an appearance in the morning.
