HOMELESS animals at Blue Cross pet charity in Tiverton are letting the world know what is top of their wish list this Christmas in a heartfelt appeal for loving new homes.

Similar to the dog shaming craze, dogs and cats at the charity’s centre in Bickleigh are posing next to notes which describe what they really want for Christmas.

Toffee is just one of the animals hoping to pull on people’s heartstrings.

The 10-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier-rottweiler cross arrived at Blue Cross when his owner could no longer care for him and a photo shows him next to his note which reads “All I want for Christmas … is a new home with loving owners.”

Another pet waiting to see what the Yuletide brings is English bull terrier Brian.

His note says: “All I want for Christmas is … a loving forever home, filled with tennis balls.” Jay Cruikshanks, centre manager at Blue Cross in Tiverton, said: “Our staff and volunteers will be caring for hundreds of pets across our rehoming centres this Christmas.

“Although we give them lots of love whilst they are in our care, nothing can substitute a loving home. We thought we’d see what our pets really want for Christmas in the hope it will help their wishes come true.”

Blue Cross Tiverton has found homes for nearly pets so far this year, and this Christmas many cats, dogs and rabbits will still be waiting for a family to give them a second chance.

Blue Cross remains open for rehoming throughout the festive period and believes the best place for a pet at Christmas is in a home.

Jay added: “Christmas can be a very quiet time of year for some people and an ideal time to take on and settle in a new pet.
