MORE than 80 people turned out to reminisce about their school days at the annual reunion of the Tiverton Grammar School, which took place at The Castle Primary School on May 8.

The majority of guests came from all over Devon and Somerset, however many came from much further afield, including Dorset, Middlesex, Nottinghamshire, Wiltshire, Surrey, Leicester, Derbyshire, London, Berkshire, Bristol and even Jersey.

Guest speaker for the evening was Jenny Willan, who was a pupil at the school between 1961 and 1969.

She gave an insight into her varied career as an English teacher, researcher at the National Foundation for Educational Research and her time working at Cambridge University.

Having had short stories broadcast on the Radio 4 Morning Story slot, she is currently writing an undergraduate textbook on early childhood studies and with her husband has a publishing business, ‘Willan Publishing’.

The audience was captivated by the many stories of her working life, frequently interspersed with humorous anecdotes of her time at the grammar school.
