A MODERN-style Post Office opens in Witheridge today (Friday) with opening hours also extended by 27.5 per week.
The 'new-style' Post Office service is based at 17 West Street, Witheridge, Tiverton - and will open at 1pm today (Friday).
A statement from the Post Office said: “The service will be provided at a combination counter in the store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till and will be available during the store's opening hours Monday - Saturday: 8.30am - 8pm; Sunday: 8.30am - 1pm.
“This is an extra 27 hours and 30 minutes a week more than previously offered a week, including Sunday morning and Saturday afternoon.
“The branch will also open earlier and close much later every day, making it easier for customers to visit.”
David Gold, Area Manager, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Witheridge and we are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy to the end of the decade.”
The Post Office in Witheridge will offer 'access to Post Office services available seven days a week', a 'convenient, quick service, modern open-plan retail environment', 'bill payment, banking, benefits and travel money' - and 'postage, home shopping returns, Local Collect.'
