RINGERS at St Peter’s Church in Tiverton are marking the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War with special bell-ringing this year.
The bells will be rung half-muffled on Remembrance Sunday (November 9) in memory of Tivertonians who lost their lives in the war and in subsequent conflicts.
After the Remembrance Day Service at St Peter’s a special quarter peal will be rung dedicated to the memory of the war dead.
This will be while the civic party returns to the town hall and wreaths are laid at the War Memorial Hall on Angel Hill.
The ringing will take place from about noon until 1pm.
