MID Devon charity Hospiscare had over 70 entrants for the Rock Solid Race earlier this month.

The runners tackled the 5k Dash and 10k Rock Solid race at Escot Park, between them raising thousands of pounds.

The beautiful weather added to the atmosphere of the day, a far cry from the torrential rain and hail of last year.

Thousands of people came from all over the country to take part in the popular event which boasts more obstacles per km than any other obstacle course race.

Team BoxFit from Starcross had an impressive team of 33 participants.

Team leader Gabriel Osborne said: “Deciding to start and finish as a team really brought everyone together.

“We are so happy to have supported Hospiscare, really it was an obvious choice – they are a fantastic local charity and one which has touched our members and their families.”

The team from BoxFit hope to raise over £2,000 for the hospice.

Event Fund-raiser Celia Wilkinson said: “We are so chuffed with all the amazing support we have received from our local community who have got involved and challenged themselves for Hospiscare.

“Rock Solid is not an easy event – it takes dedicated training, which takes time.

“Add fund-raising on top of that and the contest is even tougher.

“We are so grateful for the amazing support and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved and raised funds for us.’’
