FIREFIGHTERS received a call received from a man in the Woolsery area of Bideford, who was trapped in fast flowing flood water on his tractor.
Police had also received a call regarding the same incident.
One fire appliance from Hartland was mobilised along with the special rescue team from Barnstaple.
While efforts were being made to locate the farmworker on his tractor, police had liaised with RAF Chivenor and deployed the helicopter for his rescue.
The farmworker was rescued by helicopter at about 4.30pm.

ENVIRONMENT Agency officials have issued two flood warnings for the River Lowman in Tiverton.
Properties and roads in low lying areas of Tiverton, including Tiverton Business Park, Chapel Street, Station Road, Lowman Green, Blundells Road and Tumbling Fields are among areas affected.
There is also an advisory in place for the Station Road, Lowman Green and Old Blundells areas of Tiverton.
