Tiverton funeral directors to tackle 10k challenge in memory of Lily-Mae Jeffries

TWO funeral directors are to embark on a 10k challenge in memory of a young girl who died in a road collision earlier this year.

Ryan and Melanie Squires will take part in the 22nd Commando Challenge at the Woodbury Common Comm-ando course near East Budleigh in Devon in memory of five-year-old Lily-Mae Jeffries of Taunton, Somerset.

Lily-Mae was hit on the A354 in Weymouth, Dorset, on a family outing with her grandmother and two sisters in March.

Mr Squires helped the family – parents John and Charlene, and brother and sisters Kaycee-Ann, Anthony and Annabella – with the funeral arrangements.

Mrs Squires said: “When Ryan told me that John and Charlene had invited us to join them at the challenge and to be a part of their fundraising team, Lily’s Sparkle Helpers, I was deeply moved, and we both agreed without any hesitation.

“We were proud to be asked to care for Lily-Mae during the funeral arrangements, and we are equally as proud to be taking part in the challenge in her memory.”

A JustGiving page has been set up to receive donations for The Devon Air Ambulance Trust, which airlifted Lily-Mae to hospital following the crash, in her memory.
