Student-made mural to enhance Cullompton street corner
7:00am Saturday 21st July 2012 in Mid Devon News
A NEW piece of art students at Cullompton Community College have designed will soon welcome residents and visitors to Cullompton.
A mural is being painted on the corner of High Street and Station Road, an area the Cullompton Enhancement and Regeneration Group (CRAG) identified that could be improved in 2011.
The owners of Ian’s Fish Bar and part of the land welcomed the suggested improvements and came up with the idea of painting a mural depicting positive ideas about the town on the wall.
CRAG is now working with Devon Arts in Schools Initiative (Daisi) and Cullompton Community College on the mural. The students are also working with community artist Lucy Jackson.
A panel including Cllr Gordon Guest, Cllr Eileen Andrews, Mid Devon District Council conservation officer Sue Warren and Cullompton Community College head teacher Julie Phelan will choose the final design.
