Teen booze crackdown 'a success'

A CRACKDOWN on teenage drinking and anti-social behaviour in Cullompton and Wil-land last Friday proved “very successful”, acc-ording to the police.

About £100 worth of alcohol was seized from people under 18 and one person was arrested for shoplifting alcohol.

In addition, one adult was handed an on-the-spot £80 fine for buying alcohol for some-one under 18.

PCSO Adrian Legg, based in Cullompton, said: “It was disappointing that these offen-ces occurred, but we’re pleased that we were able to take action to deter crime and disorder.

“I’d like to stress that Friday wasn’t a special occasion. We’re always working pro-actively on the streets every week, and if any young people are found in possession of alcohol, or if adults are found consuming alcohol in the company of under-18s, we will confiscate it.”
