Daily dose of Scrabble helps Joyce score 105

A BRADNINCH woman celebrated her 105th birthday with the help of family and friends.

Joyce Lane received a bouquet of flowers from town Mayor Gerald Reed and enjoyed a family lunch at home to mark the special day.

She lives with her daughter, Irene Maynard, who says she is lively and “incredibly switched on”.

Irene added: “She takes great interest in the news and tells me all the football and sports scores. She still knits for the HOPE charity in the town and plays Scrabble every night.”

Mrs Lane was a farmer’s wife and has two sons and another daughter, who sadly died last year, as well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
