STUDENTS and staff from East Devon College in Tiverton got the chance to meet Formula One ace Nigel Mansell at his karting circuit.
When racing around Nigel Mansell’s course they all also got to meet the sporting legend. Mansell chatted to the group, passed on a few tips and signed autographs.
Construction lecturer and President of the Dunkeswell Karting Club, Clive Jeffery said: “It was very competitive racing with three qualifying heats and two finals.
“It’s a fantastic circuit and the day was enjoyed by all.
“Ian Matthews was nicknamed the ‘lawnmower’ by his competitors due to the amount of time he spent on the grass. “This was so successful we are considering making it a yearly enrichment day for this course.
“We all had a great time and we will be returning later in the year for a re-match”.
Construction lecturer Peter Bradshaw took first place, 16-year-old Ian Matthews from Exmouth in second place and 17-year-old Sam Dunsby from Uffculme came third.
