A CREDITON ambulance driver has won a pair of VIP tickets to the Devon stage finish of the Tour of Britain.
The 2016 cycle takes place on September 9 when the world's top cycling teams will race from Sidmouth to the summit of Haytor on Dartmoor.
Doug Bosley, who works for the WAFA Emergency Medical Vehicles, now has the chance to watch the finish in style after winning a prize draw.
Devon County Council held the Haytor cycling challenge last month, which saw the 130 people who took part entered into the prize draw. The challenge involved people of all ages cycling the equivalent distract of the this year's Devon finish on a stationary bike. It was organised by the Bike Shed in Exeter and sports science expert Andy Middlebroke of Exercise Science Consulting Ltd.
Mr Bosley was randomly selected and now has VIP passes for him and another person to attend.
He said: "The cycle challenge was tough, but I’m a keen mountain biker so I’m pretty use to hill climbs.
"I have never watched the Tour of Britain live before and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Councillor Stuart Hughes said: “Congratulations to Doug for winning the tickets, he will be able to watch what promises to be a spectacular stage finish in style and comfort.
"The Devon Stages in 2013 and 2014 were unforgettable occasions. Record breaking crowds turned out across the county and this year’s stage promises to provide another great show case for our beautiful county.
"The Tour of Britain is an opportunity to inspire people all ages from the young to the retired to get on their bikes and start cycling to improve health, to help the environment and because its fun."
