STATION Road and Fore Street in Cullompton will be closed overnight from next week while resurfacing work takes place.

The night-time work, which the council said is needed to improve the road consition and extend its lifespan, will start on Monday, (February 22), and is scheduled to take three weeks. 

Station Road will be closed to traffic from 7pm to 7am each evening from Monday (February 22) to Wednesday (February 24).

Fore Street will be closed overnight from 7pm to 7am between Wednesday (February 24) to Saturday February 27, and from Monday February 29 to Friday March 4.

Work will begin at Aldi, working back through the town.

Higher Street will also be closed from 7pm to 7am from Wednesday March 2 to Saturday March 5.

Councillor Stuart Hughes, the County Council’s cabinet member responsible for Highway Management said: “This resurfacing work is necessary, and while there may be temporary disruption while the work has to be carried out, the programme has been scheduled to minimise inconvenience to road users, residents and local businesses.”

Councillor John Berry, local county councillior for Cullompton Rural, said: “I fully appreciate there will be some inconvenience caused by these works but I would ask everyone to please be patient. These works will benefit all road users when complete and in the meantime every effort will be made to minimise disruption.”

Traffic management and signed diversions will be in place for the duration of the work.
