YOUNG swimmers from Tiverton Swimming Club travelled down to Parklands Leisure Centre, Okehampton to compete in the 2016 Dartmoor Sprint Meet.

There were 15 youngsters from the club who took part in total and for some it was their first competitive gala.

It included Olivia Broom, 11, who bagged a full set of medals, including golds in the individual medley and breaststroke, silvers in the freestyle and backstroke and a bronze in the butterfly; with three personal best times set.

Bradley Follett, 13, won a gold medal in the backstroke and bronze medals in the butterfly, freestyle and individual medley events, gaining two personal best times.

His brother Matthew, nine, won silver in the freestyle with a great personal best time.

Lauren Baker, nine, won gold in the butterfly with a personal best time; and 10-year-old Wilfred Arrowsmith came away with a silver medal in the backstroke and bronze medals in the butterfly and breaststroke, gaining a personal best time in the butterfly.

Corbyn Spago, nine, and Jacob Chambers, 10, put in fine performances with Spago grabbing a bronze medal in the breaststroke.

Bronze medals were also won by Daniel Harkness-Moore, 11, in the butterfly and Lucy Webber, 10, in the freestyle, with each of them achieving personal bests.

Jon Carpenter-Smith, 12, claimed bronze medals in the breaststroke and butterfly and secured two personal best times. Micah Partridge, 12, achieved four personal best times, and 11-year-old Chloe Muggeridge gained personal best times in four events.

Also putting in performances were Dylan Cleverley, 13, and Harri Davies and Leo Muggeridge, both nine.
