A NEIGHBOUR turned hero after spotting the next door house on fire earlier today, Sunday, November 1.
The distressed woman called the fire and rescue service after seeing the downstairs fire and being unable to rouse the two occupants.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in St Andrew Street South, Tiverton, after the call shortly before 4.30am.
They got into the premises and managed to get a man and a woman both in their mid 30s outside.
The two were treated for smoke inhalation by ambulance staff.
The cause of the fire was an unattended chip pan.
The accidental blaze caused 50 per cent damage to the kitchen and 80 per cent smoke damage to the rest of the privately rented home.
