As England take on Uruguay in a game which is of interest only to the South American emerging rugby nation, do you think the country has been let down by its highly paid professionals? Wales beat us, and so did Australia - but we were billed as favourites.

One writer to the Guardian's website wrote: "I think the problem lies with Rugby Union. The elite of this country treat Union as a big game with the posh posers treating their sport sections as Rugby Union magazines. Compare and contrast this with the Super League Grand Final and you'll see speed, skill, professionalism and commitments not seen in the posh game."

Many would disagree with this observation. After all the country's team were not thrashed by the Australian or Welsh team but beaten in close contests. But many will feel that if Scotland and Wales can gain entry to the knock-out level then it shows the England set-up needs reform.

The BBC were also critical. They said: "The scrum was supposed to be England's rock. It has proved the foundation for at least four big wins over the same opposition in the last decade. On Saturday it was just another weakness. Five times England conceded scrum penalties. They were shoved, splintered and substituted."

Somerset has a wealth of top rugby teams such as Bath and Bridwater. Do you think the English set-up need to be revisited? Your views to harry.mottram@nqsw.co.uk
