YOUNGSTERS from Cullompton Community College were the first to play Padbrook Park’s new FootGolf course last Friday.

Padbrook Park in Cullompton has become the home of the sport in the South-West, with the UK FootGolf Association basing its regional headquarters there.

FootGolf is the fastest growing sport in the UK, growing from ten affiliated courses 18 months ago to more than 80 across the country.

It has a central headquarters at Milton, Doncaster University, with a youth Academy structure headed up by ex-Premier League footballer Bryan Hughes.

More than 40,000 players enjoy the sport over the winter period, even though the season runs from March to October.

The sport has a large international footprint with a European Tour already started, the Atlantic Cup – FootGolf’s Ryder Cup – in May in Miami, USA, and the World Cup in Argentina in 2016.

The sport gives young peopple the chance to take part in an activity they can enjoy with friends and the whole family.

The UK FootGolf Association has partnered with Padbrook Park Golf Club to provide an 18-hole Championship FootGolf course, enabling all ages and both sexes the chance to play the sport.

As the South-West headquarters it will also provide Sport England recognised coaching courses/qualifications, after school clubs and more.
