BRADNINCH Folk Club is presenting an evening of early English music courtesy of Marginalia at The Castle Hotel.

The early English music inspired group, which made its town debut in September last year, is performing at the Castle Hotel on Tuesday, December 16.

Group member and vocalist Tracy Baker said: “The idea for Marginalia came out of me learning one of the Exeter Riddles for a job interview at Exeter’s Underground Passages, which I got, not least because of the surprise, I think.

“The Exeter Book or Exeter Book of Riddles is a 9th Century manuscript that exists in the Cathedral Library.

“It’s a treasure studied by intellectuals from all over the world because it is written in Old English – Anglo-Saxon to us – and contains some incredible poetry alongside actual riddles, some of which are still not satisfactorily solved.”

The music starts at 8pm and entry is £4 on the door
