TIVERTON’S Tourist Info-rmation Service is among the finalists for the Tourist Information Service of the Year award in Devon Tour-ism Awards 2014.

That means the service will win gold, silver or bronze award.

Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life has been operating the new service for a year.

Chairman of trustees Andrea Rowe said: “We at the Museum were quietly confident that we could provide an excellent information service for the town.

“Our nomination for one of these prestigious tourism awards is welcome confirmation that we are on the right track.

“We thank all who wished us well and worked with us to produce such a good outcome.”

Museum director Pippa Griffith said: “We are thrilled with the news that the Information Service is among the finalists, especially as it is for the first year that we have operated the service.

“It is a fantastic achievement for our two visitor information officers, Carrie Thomas and Mary Davey, and the many volunteers who staff our front desk and help with a wide range of enquiries.”

Tiverton Museum is no stranger to the Devon Tourism Awards, winning the Gold Small Visitor Attraction in 2013, and a Bronze award in 2012.

The museum did not enter the Small Visitor Attraction category this year.
